Launch of CM Kisan Portal Odisha
In a statement on X, Chief Minister Majhi expressed his pleasure in unveiling the scheme on the auspicious occasion of Nuakhai, a key agricultural festival in Odisha. He highlighted the introduction of the CM Kisan Portal and the Farmer Odisha Unified Portal, which aim to enhance the welfare of farmers. “The CM Kisan Yojana is a significant step toward the holistic development of farmers. The scheme will benefit approximately 46 lakh farming families in the state. An amount of 925 crores will be directly transferred through DBT to support their financial stability and growth,” the Chief Minister stated. The portal can be accessed here.
Under the CM-KISAN Yojana, eligible farmers will receive a total of Rs 4,000 in two installments. The first installment of Rs 2,000 will be disbursed on September 8, coinciding with Nuakhai, and the remaining Rs 2,000 will be provided on Akshaya Tritiya.
Benefits of the Kisan Samman Yojana Odisha:
- Financial Assistance: The scheme provides direct financial aid to small and marginal farmers, helping them meet their agricultural expenses and improve their financial stability.
- Support for Excluded Farmers: It extends support to landless farmers who are not covered under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) Yojana, ensuring that more farmers receive assistance.
- Two Installments of Aid: Eligible farmers receive a total of Rs 4,000 in two phases, with the first installment distributed on the occasion of Nuakhai and the second on Akshaya Tritiya, providing timely financial support.
- Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT): The scheme uses DBT to transfer funds directly to farmers’ bank accounts, ensuring transparency and efficiency in the distribution process.
- Enhanced Financial Position: By providing significant financial support, the scheme helps strengthen the economic position of farming families, facilitating better agricultural practices and investments.
- Promotes Agricultural Development: The financial assistance aids in the overall development of the agricultural sector in the state, contributing to increased productivity and growth in farming communities.
- Boosts Farmer Welfare: By addressing the needs of the farming community, the scheme aims to improve the quality of life for farmers and support their economic progress.
This initiative specifically targets landless farmers who were previously excluded from the PM-KISAN scheme. The government’s objective with the CM-KISAN Yojana is to extend support to this segment of the farming community, thereby promoting agricultural development and farmer welfare in the state.
Earlier in the day, Chief Minister Majhi, along with Sambalpur MP Dharmendra Pradhan and state ministers, offered prayers at the Maa Samaleswari temple in Sambalpur. State Ministers Suresh Pujari, Rabi Narayan Naik, and Sambalpur BJP MLA Jayanarayan Mishra also participated in the traditional ‘Nabanna’ ceremony, sharing the new rice with the Chief Minister.
Nuakhai, a three-day agrarian festival celebrated with enthusiasm in western Odisha districts such as Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Kalahandi, and others, marks the arrival of the new crop. Farmers offer new grains to the deity as part of the celebration and later partake in various festivities including dance and games. The state government has declared Monday a public holiday in observance of the festival.
