BJP vs. AAP Over Power Cuts

BJP vs. AAP Over Power Cuts

Delhi’s political battlefield has once again ignited, this time over an issue that directly impacts the daily lives of its residents—electricity supply. The recent controversy erupted when BJP leader and Rajouri Garden MLA Manjinder Singh Sirsa launched a scathing attack on AAP leader and interim Delhi Chief Minister Atishi. He accused her of orchestrating large-scale power cuts in the city as a political stunt and a means to punish voters who supported the BJP in recent elections.

Sirsa did not mince his words. He claimed that Atishi had taken “political drama” to an unprecedented level, surpassing even Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in her theatrics. In a strongly worded statement, he alleged that despite the BJP not yet forming a government in Delhi, Atishi had taken it upon herself to act as the “caretaker CM” and was deliberately implementing power cuts as an act of revenge. “This is nothing but a cheap, vindictive tactic by the Aam Aadmi Party,” Sirsa asserted. “Delhi is being held hostage in sheer desperation—how much lower will they sink?”

Atishi Hits Back: BJP to Blame for Delhi’s Power Crisis

Atishi, however, has a completely different version of the story. She blamed the BJP for the sudden and widespread power outages in the national capital, claiming that the electricity supply, which was stable under AAP’s decade-long governance, had collapsed within days of the BJP coming to power at the Centre.

Taking to social media platform X, Atishi lashed out at the BJP, writing,

“Delhi is in crisis because of the BJP. As soon as they came to power, long power cuts have begun across the city. The once-reliable 24×7 power supply system has crumbled under their rule.”

She further alleged that under AAP’s leadership, Delhi residents enjoyed uninterrupted electricity for the past ten years, but now people were being forced to purchase inverters due to frequent and prolonged outages. Atishi warned that if the situation was this dire in February—traditionally a month with lower electricity demand—Delhiites should brace themselves for an even worse crisis during the peak summer months when power consumption skyrockets.

Adding a sharp political jab, Atishi remarked that the difference between a government led by “educated leaders” and one run by individuals with “fake degrees” had become evident in just three days. She also pointed out that even BJP supporters had taken to social media to complain about the power cuts, indicating that the crisis was real and not a fabricated narrative.

Political Blame Game or Real Crisis?

As accusations fly between AAP and BJP, Delhi residents find themselves caught in the middle, grappling with power cuts that disrupt their daily routines. The big question remains—are these outages a consequence of mismanagement by the new administration, or is this, as the BJP claims, a deliberate ploy by AAP to create unrest?

Regardless of the political motives behind these claims, one thing is clear: Delhiites are growing increasingly frustrated. With summer approaching and electricity demand set to soar, the last thing the capital needs is a prolonged power struggle—both politically and literally.

As the blame game intensifies, residents are left wondering: Will this power war result in real solutions, or will it remain just another chapter in Delhi’s ever-evolving political drama?
