There’s a buzz on social media after yesterday’s Trump-Harris debate, with some folks speculating that Kamala Harris was wearing hidden earphones Nova H1 Audio Earrings disguised as pearl earrings.
Nova H1 Audio Earrings Controversy
The theory suggests that Harris might have been sporting a pair of Nova H1 Audio Earrings, which were created by the German startup NOVA Products. According to the startup’s Kickstarter page, these earrings, which were first shown at CES in January 2023, have tiny microphones and Bluetooth technology that can project sound directly into the ear canal. The company claims that this setup ensures privacy for phone calls and music.
The debate, which took place on September 10, 2024, at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, did show Harris wearing pearl earrings. Some social media users have pointed out that these look similar to a pair of Double Pearl Hinged Earrings from Tiffany & Co. We reached out to the Harris-Walz campaign for any official comment on the matter.
This isn’t the first time conspiracy theories about hidden communication devices during debates have surfaced. Back in 2016, similar claims were made about Hillary Clinton, particularly after a debate forum. Fact-checkers at PolitiFact and Snopes looked into these claims and found no evidence of an earpiece.
Previous Controversy on Presidential Debate
Similarly, during the 2020 election, there were allegations that President Joe Biden used a hidden earpiece during a debate with Donald Trump. Biden’s campaign firmly denied this, calling it “completely absurd,” and the Commission on Presidential Debates confirmed that no earpieces were allowed.
As for the Nova H1 Audio Earrings, they don’t seem to be available for purchase at the moment, and NOVA Products’ website now redirects to Icebach Sound Solutions. Backers on Kickstarter have reported delays with their orders, and NOVA Products hasn’t updated their Kickstarter page since May 2023.
