Shivdeep Wamanrao Lande, the well-known IPS officer from Bihar, popularly referred to as “Singham,” has resigned from his position. Recently appointed as the new IG of the Purnea Commissionerate, he had already taken charge there.
Lande, recognized for his swift actions against drug-related crimes across four districts, announced his resignation unexpectedly via his official Facebook page.
In a statement to the media, Shivdeep Lande explained, “I have resigned from the Indian Police Service for personal reasons.”
Previously, in his Facebook post, he expressed, “My dear Bihar, after serving in a government position for the past 18 years, I have resigned today. Throughout these years, I have prioritized Bihar above myself and my family. If there were any shortcomings during my tenure as a public servant, I sincerely apologize. I am stepping down from the Indian Police Service, but I will remain in Bihar, which will continue to be my workplace.”
Originally from Akola, Maharashtra, Shivdeep Lande clarified in his post that he intends to stay in Bihar even after leaving his job. He has previously worked in the Maharashtra ATS as IG after being on deputation from Bihar.
His recent appointment came from the Nitish government, which tasked him with eliminating drugs like smack in the Seemanchal region. Following his joining, he was actively involved in operations against drug traffickers in the four districts under the Purnea Commissionerate: Purnea, Araria, Katihar, and Kishanganj.

A talented individual, he completed his engineering studies through a scholarship and later became a UPSC topper, securing a position in the Bihar cadre, where he has served as an IPS officer for 18 years.
